Chat Auctions

Chat AuctionsChat Auctions are an alternative to Auction Houses for players who want to trade instantly without waiting. The seller runs an auction in a trading channel, then sells the item to the highest bidder at the close of the auction. The buyer and seller must then meet up in the world to make the trade. Sellers Use the Trade Channel.Pick a starting bid for your item. Low Starting/Minimum BidsIf you set it really low you might get a lot of attention (and possibly insults/laughs) by players who know the item is worth much more. This can work to your advantage as it’s free publicity when players talk about your item. High Starting BidsIf your minimum bid is set too high then you won’t get any bids on your item. If you start an item at 1 gold you may find no bidders for that item. But, if you start the item off at 25 silver the same item might sell for much higher than 2 gold. Your selling strategy determines the success of your trade. Announce your item with a link to the item: [Iridescent Pearl] min bid 1g. Wait for bids. Once someone makes a bid, acknowledge their bid by repeating it with their name. I have 1g on [Iridescent Pearl] by Jonny. If people are bidding really quickly against each other, wait until it slows down and announce the last bid. If bidding slows down or stops, wait a bit (it’s up to you how long) and say [Iridescent Pearl] going once for 1.5g to Jonny. (or whatever the last bid was). Wait a little bit longer then say [Iridescent Pearl] going twice for 1.5g to Jonny. Then call the auction as sold. [Iridescent Pearl] sold for 1.5g to Jonny. It’s important that you keep repeating the link and the price so people who come into the channel later can see what is being bid on and what the price is at. It’s also important that you call the auction. Otherwise the buyer might become bored and will quit. You should now message the winning bidder and tell them that they won and set up a place to meet. Sellers should locate themselves by banks or flying transport locations so that buyers can easily find them. If the deal falls through somehow and you’re unable to work out the problems with the winning bidder, offer the item up for auction again. You can also try selling it to the second highest bidder at their last bid price. However, they are under no obligation to pay since the auction is over. Other tipsDon’t try to sell an item that cannot be traded such as a soulbound item. Read about item basics to learn about the quality of items and bind status. Many quest items cannot be traded. Check to see. Buyers As items scroll by, make a bid on an item you want. Example: “10 s (silver) on [Amazing Sword].” Try to mention what you are bidding on if there are multiple items for trade at the same time. Beware of bid warsThe goal of the auction isn’t to BEAT another player in some imaginary battle. The goal is to get the item at a reasonable price. Don’t bid up an item to crazy numbers just to win against another person bidding on the item. Pull out if the price gets too high. Beware of shady auctions or bidsLook up the bidders and seller using /who to make sure they are not in the same guilds. Auction Etiquette Try to include a link to the item whenever possible. There are always new people showing up that may have missed the previous link. Once people are bidding on an item, you should sell it at the end of the auction. It’s rude to offer to sell an item and then retract the item from bid. Try not to take back a bid offer unless there are special circumstances. If you have to, make sure you inform people that you are sorry that you have to retract your bid. If someone is selling an item and you think they’re asking for too much money, message them privately. They will either thank you, ignore you, or be less polite. It’s rude to insult a player’s asking price in public. If the item is really overpriced then no one will buy it. If someone is paying too much for an item, let them. Maybe they have a ton of money and don’t care what an item is priced at, they just want the item NOW. Don’t bid on something i

Tips for Auction Houses

EnchantingYou can disenchant some items and then sell the resources to enchanters for a bigger profit in the auction house. You can also make more money by enchanting an item before selling it. create a Sales ListIf you’re selling profession items that you create, you can write a list of the ones that you will be selling. You can include what components are required to create those items as well. You should also include your current price list. This list will help you be more organized and let you spend less time selling your items. You’ll need to continually update your list as you add new items for sale or remove items that do not sell. You’ll also need to modify the prices as the market for those items changes. You may find spreadsheets are very useful for this purpose. You can also print them out easily. When you sell an item, place a check on your list so you know to restock that item in your store. Component StoragePurchase the biggest bags you can for your bank slots. Buy as many extra bank slots as you are able to. Organize your bank with all of the profession components in their proper place. If you’re a tailor, one bag can be for mageweave, one for runecloth, and another for thread, dye, and other special ingredients. If you keep everything organized, you can gather the components more quickly, create the items, and sell them in the auction house. Reselling ItemsSome players make a profit by buying items that are listed too low and reselling them at their “proper” price. Their profit is the difference between the price they paid for the item and the price they sold it at. This method is for experienced traders only, as you need to really know the prices before attempting this. Sometimes players place an item in the auction house and set a really low price because they don’t realize what an item is worth to other players. Search OptionsMemorize a bunch of different search options so you can quickly check what is for sale. Examples: select epic quality only and hit search (lists all epics) select weapons, level 50-60, check usable items, and hit search (lists all weapons level 50-60 that you can use; you can change the levels) Repeat the above search with armor selected instead of weapons to list the wearable armor available for your level range select recipes and check usable items (shows all available recipes that apply to your professions) select recipes, select quality uncommon, and check usable items (shows recipes that are green or better for your profession, if any) select trade goods and type in mageweave to list all of the mageweave cloth for sale. Make a list of these searches and print them out. Then quickly type them in to check all of the items you wish to search for Use the Number PadYou can use the number pad on your keyboard to more quickly enter the prices of items as you list in them in the auction house. Make sure your “num lock” key is on. You can also press “tab” to scroll between the price boxes. GemsGems now searchable in the Auction House under the heading of Gem with the gems then broken up by color so you can search for all gems of a specific color. PDAYou might find a PDA (personal digital assistant) extremely helpful for running an auction house business. You can take notes, read lists, and so on. You can also alt-tab out of the game instead of using a PDA to update your lists. Then there is the classic piece of paper and pen! SoundYou can hit control-s to disable the sound effects if someone is making really annoying sounds in the auction house. Don’t forget to re-enable them after you leave. Auction House CampersSome players do nothing but sit at the auction house and buy and sell items. It can be a lot of fun because buying and selling items is a fun alternative to fighting.

Auction Houses tips

Here are some tips from players that have made thousands of gold by selling crafted items to others. We hope you find these tips useful. Make sure you’ve learned the basics at our Auction Houses page before reading this page. Determine Item DemandFind out what items players will buy. You can do that by simply listing a bunch of items at the auction house. If an item does not sell, re-list the item at a cheaper price or try the same price again. If you are unable to sell the item after multiple auction house listings, you will need to either drop the price some more or just quit trying to sell it. Some items, such as grey-colored items, should be sold to the vendors. Some profession-made items are only meant to be used to raise your skill, and other players will not wish to purchase them. You’ll have to determine which ones they are through experience. Check Other SalesBefore selling an item, check the price other players are selling it for. That way you’ll have a more realistic idea of what price to set for your item. You should set the item’s minimum bid at a similar or cheaper price. If you set the item at a more expensive price, it will not sell unless someone else buys out the cheaper ones. If you price it lower, people will buy your items first. However, if you set the price too low, you might drive the cost of that item down and make less profit. Suggested Price vs. Real PriceWhen you place an item in the auction tab for sale, the auction house lists a suggested selling price. This may or may not be close at all to what the item is really worth. Some items may have a very high price that players would never pay. Other items may have a really low price that is far below the items market value. You need to determine what the “real” price of the item should be. What Determines Price? There are many factors so it’s difficult to nail down, but these are some general guidelines: Demand – How bad do players want or need it? Rarity of the item – Items that are more rare will typically sell for more. Be on the lookout for various items that are sought after by many professions, such as Heart of Fire, Wildvine, etc. Level of the item – Higher level items sell for more money Cost of sale to the vendor – If the vendor will pay a lot for the item, players will set the item price above the vendor cost. Auction house availability – If there are a lot of the items in the auction house, it may drive the price down. Trade items – If the item requires rare or expensive components, the item will typically be sold for more money. Level of the person who will be using the item (i.e., listing a level-10 item for 20 gold may not work as few level-10 players have 20 gold) Buyout PriceAlways have a buyout price. Many players want the items now and don’t want to wait. Many players are willing to pay the higher buyout price just to get the item now. Try not to set a ridiculously high buyout price. This will cause buyers to say “what is that guy thinking?” and they might not even bid on your item based on that buyout price. Buyers are easily offended. It is better to not have a buyout price than to set one too high. The exception might be extremely powerful items such as purple items or items whose worth is completely unknown. TimingTiming can be very important for selling items. If the auction house already has a lot of the items you are trying to sell, you should wait until another time. You can also just lowball the current prices by setting your price below all of them. There are also good and bad times for auctions. A good time is when a lot of people are playing, such as during the evening or weekends. A bad time would be very late at night.

Browsing Auction Items

Use the categories on the left side of the auction window, and the search field in the top left, to find the items you’re interested in. There are many possible custom search options, including: Name – Name of a specific item you’re looking for. You can shift-click an item or item name to enter it in this window.Level Range – Set the minimum and maximum required level of the item. For example, if you’re level 30, try looking for items up to level 30.Useable Items – Click this box if you only want to see items that you can currently use, such as only displaying Cloth armor if you’re a Mage.FiltersThere are many filters and sub filters you can apply to narrow your searches, categorized by item type. For example, each weapon and armor type has its own filter, and in the case of armor, subfilters by inventory slot. Bidding and Buyouts select the item you wish to bid on or buy out in the Browse window. Each item will display its closing time, the current high bid, and the buyout price (if available). Buyout PriceIf the item has a Buyout price it will be listed as a fixed price to purchase the item. This is not the current bid, but instead how much you must pay to buy the item outright, ending the auction. Using the buyout option will immediately deliver the item to your mailbox. Auction LengthMouse over the time remaining to display an estimate in hours of time remaining on the auction. Items can be put up for sale for 12, 24, or 48 hours. Bidding IncrementsYou can enter any bid amount you wish when making a bid. The minimum bid amount (5% of the current sale price) will be filled in as the default amount. Outbid! If you are outbid on an auction you will receive a text message in your chat window, in addition to receiving your bid amount in your mailbox. You will need to bid again if you want that item. Each time a bid is made on an item, a small amount of time is added to the remaining auction duration. Bid Tabselect the “Bid” tab to see the current status of all the items you’re bidding on. Creating An Auction Place Item in Auction BoxClick on the “Auctions” Tab. In the top left of that panel there is a box to place your item. Drag an item you wish to sell from your bags into this box. Set Starting PriceThe auction house will suggest a starting price. You can adjust this by setting it higher or lower. In some cases the suggested price will be much lower than the item’s market value. If you’re unsure as to the market value of your item, try searching for listings for that item. However, a low price may also attract bidders who think they can get a deal on the item. Set Auction DurationIt’s important to realize that the longer you set the auction duration, the more the initial deposit will be. If you set an extremely long duration, the deposit price can even exceed the actual value of the item. If your item sells, you will receive your deposit back. However, if no one buys the item, you’ll lose your deposit. Generally it’s good to pick the shortest auction time you’re comfortable with in order to reduce your upfront cost. Buyout Price (Optional)If you wish, you can also set a buyout price. This is the price at which a buyer can instantly purchase your item. If you’re unsure of the price to set, try searching for listings for that item. Generally, people will pay a slight premium to get their item instantly. Auction SuccessfulIf someone buys the item you are selling you’ll receive a text message. The purchase amount will be sent to your mailbox along with a receipt. Your actual payout will be lower than the sale price because of the auction house’s cut – a percentage of the sale price. Auction ExpiredIf your item doesn’t sell by the time the auction duration is up, your auction will expire and you will lose your deposit money. The item you put up for auction will be returned to you from the auction house through the mail. You have up to 30 days to get it from your mailbox. Miscellaneous Information When items are being put up for sale on the Auction House, if the item you are putting up for bid is the same i

Trading

Trading is a great way to find those hard to find items you’re looking for. Some items cannot be easily found on your own. You can try to do without them but why not use other players to find these items for you? Many people have the goal of finding the best possible equipment for their character. While playing the game a lot can help you do this, trading is often much easier and faster if you have the money. Trading With Another Playerselect a character, and then right-click on its portrait/name. You can also do this for player portraits. This will launch the trade screen with another player. Place your items in the top portion of the screen. Once you are satisfied with the other player’s trade, hit “Trade” button. To trade money, open up your backpack and hold down shift while clicking on the money amount. You can then select the amount of money and drag it over to the trade window. You can also drag an item or money from your bags and drop it on another player to initate a trade window. Make sure the other player gives the correct type of coin in the trade. When you have a trade window open, you can right-click an item to move it to the trade window. Trading Screen + Trade SkillsSome trade skills can use the trade screen to manipulate another player’s items. A locksmith can open locked boxes placed in the trade screen. Enchanters can also enchant items that are in the trade screen. Place these items in the box at the bottom, which is for items that will be modified by other players but not traded Linking Item StatsThe most important thing to learn about item trading is linking item stats. Open up the chat prompt (hit enter) and then hold down the shift key while left-clicking on the item. Note: this will not work if the item is in the bank or if the chat prompt is not open. You can use these links in most messages, including say, private messages, guild chat, and trade channels. Trade links will only work in the trade channels. They will not work in other general channels. Trading ChannelsThere are public trading channels located in the big cities. You can only use these channels while in the cities. Find Out Who Uses the ItemKnow which classes use which type of equipment: Mail Armor: Warrior, PaladinLeather Armor: Druid, Rogue, Shaman, HunterCloth Armor: Mage, Warlock, PriestWeapons: some items can only be used by certain classes Trade Skill ComponentsPlayers with trade skills will pay money for stacks of normal and rare components, such as medium hide, 20 light leather, or a lesser moonstone. Ask around before selling these types of items to the merchants. Making DealsThe goal of a seller is to get the best item or the most money for their item. The goal of a buyer is to try to get deals on items, and to get them as cheaply as possible. Prices are not fixed, so haggle. If the person won’t go for the deal, chances are someone else will. If the person has a very valuable and rare item, you might have to give in to the seller’s price if you really want to get the item. If you’re having trouble selling your item, lower the price. Find out what an item is worth. Figure out how rare it is and what people will pay for it. Look around and see what people are offering and are paying for items. Then come up with a price or offer a similar price. You can watch the sales of other similar items to find out what your item is worth. Item prices will change depending on the time of day, which determines how many players are on. There are also many other factors that can make an item more or less valuable. How bad do you want the item? That is a good question. Be sure you don’t let the other person know how bad you want the item; otherwise they will have second thoughts about trading it. They will think “If this person wants it this bad, how much will someone else pay?” If you really desire the item, you might want to cave in and pay whatever it takes to get it. But if you really don’t need the item, pass up on an overpriced item. “I’ll trade you everything I have” generally is not a good thing to say. 2

WoW Warrior Guide

The Warrior class is one of the top melee dps characters you can choose to play. Although they start with mail armor, after level 40 they are able to wear plate. This gives the warrior class an advantage over most characters when trying to level. They can slice and dice better than their rogue peers and they have better armor to withstand enemies. Warriors also have the advantage of being able to use just about any weapon except for the caster wands. Warriors have a chance to play high damage, but they are mostly used as the main tank in party dungeons and raids. Without warriors, no group would last very long in a dungeon. They are also great PVP classes. Warriors can spec protection (the main tanking tree), arms (PVP spec), or fury which gives the warrior great dps for raids. If you decide to raid, most likely you will need a tanking set. Most guilds need a tank instead of a dps warrior since dps warriors are very popular. Whether you want to be dps or protection, warriors can benefit from the usefulness of the blacksmithing profession. Blacksmithing allows you to make armor and weapons that you can use during leveling and in end game content. As you level, you will first create mail armor and later create plate armor. Blacksmithing mostly uses ore from mining, so mining is the best secondary profession to choose. If you don

WoW Warlock Guide

Several players make the mistake of avoiding the Warlock class since its not considered to be a class thats very good at combat, when in reality, if this class is played properly, its a powerful class that can do a great deal of damage.
